Nuclear power THE country’s 47 nuclear reactors generated a total of 253.5 billion kilowatt hours of power in the first three quarters of 2019, up 22.75 percent compared to a year earlier, the country’s nuclear industry association said. In its third quarterly report, the China Nuclear Energy Association said China’s nuclear power sector was responsible for 4.8 percent of China’s total electricity supply over the period, up from 4.1 percent in the same period of last year. It said utilization rates at its reactors stood at an average of 92.35 percent over the period, up from around 85 percent a year earlier. Zhongguancun revenue BEIJING’S Zhongguancun, known as China’s “Silicon Valley,” recorded a yearly increase of 12.3 percent in its revenue in the first three quarters of this year. According to the latest data released by the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Statistics, revenue from the science park’s high-tech enterprises above a designated size exceeded 4.27 trillion yuan (US$607 billion) in the January-September period. Statistics indicate that the fields of electronics and information, and advanced manufacturing maintained rapid growth, with year-on-year increases of 14.8 percent and 14.2 percent, respectively. Internet firms INTERNET and related services sectors in China have maintained rapid expansion in the first nine months, displaying enhanced profitability, official data showed. The sectors’ total revenue reached 860.4 billion yuan during the January-September period, up 19.7 percent year on year, according to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. The growth rate was 0.3 percentage points higher than the same period last year. |
