High school choir makes debut at Shenzhen Grand Theater
    2019-11-06  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

深外“心·航”合唱团唱响深圳大剧院

The Heart·Voyage choir from the high school division of Shenzhen Foreign Languages School presented a special concert at Shenzhen Grand Theater on November 3.

As one of the concerts at the 2019 Shenzhen Youth Music Week of the 23rd Shenzhen Grand Theater Art Festival and the choir’s first special concert to be held off campus, the concert marks another important achievement for the school’s art education.

Among the audience were government officials, the school’s former school principals, current principal Luo Laijin and choir professionals.

The audience was immediately drawn into the concert by the song “I Will Sing You the Star.” With boys singing in a baritone at center stage and girls singing the harmony from stage right and left, the dynamic performance kicked off the feast of music. The choir presented a total of 17 classic Chinese and foreign pieces of various styles in six languages including English, Spanish, Latin, Kiswahili, isiZulu, and Maori.

The last three songs performed by all the choir members were “Hearts Set Sail” (commissioned by the choir), upbeat “If There Is an Afterlife” and “I Love You, My Motherland.”

Feng Yu, conductor of the choir, said the choir is committed to going global while also learning from others, with an aim of becoming an international professional choir.
