Experts on 5G and robotics attend forum
    2019-11-08  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

EXPERTS attended the Global Robotics Industry Summit and World Robot High-end Forum at Shenzhen World Exhibition and Convention Center on Monday to share ideas on innovation and the future of robotics and 5G.

Li Zhuowen, deputy secretary general with the Shenzhen government, Jia Xingdong, director with the Shenzhen Industry and Information Technology Bureau, and Lou Yanfeng, deputy head with the Bao’an District government, attended the forum.

In recent years, the robotics industry in Bao’an District has developed fast and taken shape around a cluster of enterprises with competitive capabilities. A report released this April shows the number of robotics enterprises in the city increased from 594 in 2017 to 649 in 2018. The total production volume in 2018 reached 117.8 billion yuan (US$16.8 billion), an increase of 13.8 percent year on year.

Geographically, Bao’an has the highest number of robotics enterprises in the city, with 39 percent of them distributed in the district. The total production volume was 23 billion yuan in 2018, increasing by more than 20 percent year on year. Bao’an has a complete industrial chain for the robotics industry, from servo motors to decelerators and control systems. The district has also taken a leading position in Shenzhen in both technological level and output scale.

At the summit, Liu Li, professor with the Engineering Department of Peking University, Zhang Tie, professor with South China University of Technology, and an expert from Smart Factory in Japan shared thoughts on the future development of robotics and 5G.
