‘Shenzhen improving for regatta competition’

THE 13th China Cup International Regatta was held from Wednesday to Sunday in Shenzhen’s Daya Bay, which left the competitors with a fantastic impression and provided the audience with a unique chance to experience regatta culture.

On Saturday, there were about 10,000 people visiting the seaside Event Village, which holds various maritime-related events. One of these exciting events is called “maritime celebrities face to face.” This year, the sponsor invited Scott Perry, vice president of the World Sailing Federation, Hayden Porter and Aaron Young, president and vice president of Royal Yacht Association of New Zealand, and Song Kun, the first Chinese woman to sail around the world, to share their stories.

Scott said that his life is more like a migratory bird. “I usually sail in South America and the Mediterranean and take part in many competitions.”

This opening line created a “magnetic field.” In his mind, sailing is very interesting, challenging and entertaining. It is suitable for most people. “I will be 72 next week, and I still can participate in the China Cup.”

This is Scott’s second time competing in the China Cup, with the last time being in 2015. “Four years later, when I returned here, the changes could be said to be earth-shaking. The facilities are getting better. We used to take a 45-minute bus back to the hotel. Now you can walk back to the hotel for a bath after the competition. These changes are the reason why China Cup has attracted more international participants. “

When it comes to the China Cup, Scott is very interested. “More international sailors are willing to compete in the China Cup, which will make the competition more attractive. Every sailor wants to take part in this top-level competition, where they can compete with top players from dozens of countries and have communication.”
