MAKE the OK gesture in front of a tiny camera drone hanging in the air and it will automatically take a picture for you. This might have been a make-believe scene in the past, but now AI technologies have transformed imagination into reality.

At the 21st China Hi-Tech Fair, many people were amazed by a mini drone that was released from beneath the screen of a smart watch, flew and took videos and pictures as directed by gestures.

The mini drone, combined with the smart watch, is named TIMAX. Delicately made and half the size of a fist, the drone can be folded into a tiny cube to fit into the watch. Thus, it can be easily carried around wherever you go.

Additionally, the mini drone is easy to operate. The smart watch, apart from being a container, also works to control the drone. Anyone who wears the watch can direct the drone’s flight simply by moving his or her arm.

Videos taken by the drone can be uploaded to and edited on the phone and then shared via social media apps within one minute.

Technology makes life better, and drones could be used as “the third eye” to record the wonderful moments of life from various perspectives.

As it’s small, light and user-friendly, TIMAX could become a new form of social media, said Zhao Libei, the founder of TIMAX.
