Roland Wetzel, director of Museum Tinguely, will give a free lecture titled “Making Art Accessible” at OCT Art next Tuesday. Entry is free and no sign-up is necessary.

Museum Tinguely is an art museum in Basel, Switzerland that contains a permanent exhibition of the works of Swiss painter and sculptor Jean Tinguely (1925-1991). Located in Solitude Park by the Rhine, the museum was designed by the Ticinese architect Mario Botta and opened in 1996.

Tinguely’s kinetic art sculptures are complemented with illustrations, photographs and other documents related to the artist’s life and work. His wife Niki de Saint Phalle has donated 55 sculptures to the museum. Temporary exhibitions show works from Tinguely’s friends, wife and other artists such as Bernhard Luginbuhl and Yves Klein.

Born in 1965, Wetzel majored in art history, economics and musicology. He was the curator of Kunstmuseum Basel from 2000 to 2009.
