Four schoolmates’ inspiring lessons
    2019-11-27  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

Zhou Hang, Class 13, Senior 2, Shenzhen Xin’an Middle School Instructed by Zhan Tingting, Tang Ying

深圳市新安中学(集团)高二(13)班 周航

指导老师:詹婷婷 汤颖

In June, Ms. Tang organized a lesson for us in which four senior 3 students shared their experiences in learning English and working for our school’s English newspaper. It was a very enlightening lesson, and I learned a lot from it.

Among them, Lin Zehao told us how to write a good article. He prepared his PPT with great effort. From his talk, I understood the importance of good handwriting. In addition, we must use the sentences we are familiar with and accumulate as many various sentence patterns as we can. I used to write long and difficult sentences in exams, but sometimes I used them incorrectly, which is not acceptable. My grammar mistakes should be reduced. If I make grammar mistakes, I will definitely lose some points in an exam, which I will regret.

In addition, the other three students, Chen Zishun, Chen Junyu and He Shujun, also told us about their own experiences. What impressed me most was Chen Zishun’s humorous method. He used a strategy of making fun of himself to tell us that each of us should have a long-term goal for our life. An opportunity comes to a person only once. In our senior school life, we can’t rely on only studying in the classroom. Instead, we should take advantage of as many opportunities as possible to experience more things to make our life fulfilling. We should take part in as many activities as possible to practice and train our abilities.

That is the reason why I joined Ms. Tang’s course and our newspaper club. I have benefited a lot by improving my English writing, reading, leadership abilities and integrated life skills. The greatest pleasure in life is finishing something that people say is impossible for you to do. Therefore, I believe we should challenge ourselves to participate in more extracurricular activities during our high school days.

Chen Junyu and He Shujun introduced the process of their making progress step by step by attending Ms. Tang’s lessons on highly effective English-learning strategies. They appreciate Ms. Tang for her inspiring and useful lessons and her patient help and hard work. I know that Rome was not built in a day. No road of flowers leads to glory. We must keep trying and practicing and never give up. As the old saying goes, “Slow and steady wins the race.”
