7 dead

SEVEN of the eight miners trapped in a coal and gas blast in Southwest China’s Guizhou Province last Monday were confirmed dead, as rescuers retrieved the last body yesterday.

Only one miner came out alive after the accident in the Sanjia coal mine in the city of Bijie.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation.

Ground sinks

A CAVE-IN occurred at a construction site of Metro Line 11 in the Guangzhou yesterday, sinking a cleaning vehicle and an electric vehicle.

The search and rescue is under way. No specific information on casualties has been verified.

ETC users

THE country has more than 174 million electronic toll collection (ETC) users across the country, showed data from the Ministry of Transport.

By Nov. 27, the total number of ETC users had reached 174.52 million, meaning that 91.44 percent of the total issuance task was completed.

China has seen 93.85 million new ETC users since the beginning of the year, the ministry said.

Earlier this year, the ministry issued a circular to popularize the use of expressway ETC devices.

Fugitive arrested

POLICE in Central China’s Hunan Province said Saturday they have arrested an entrepreneur who had been a fugitive for 32 years.
