Wang Haolan Holly_cn@163.com AS major exhibitors of the 28th Guangzhou International Travel Fair (GITF), Poland and Germany are aiming to tap deeper into the tourism market of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. Poland is home to 15 world cultural heritage sites and a line-up of renowned figures of historical importance, such as Chopin, which makes it an ideal destination for study tours, stated Xing Daiqi, marketing director of the Beijing office of the Polish Tourism Organization, on a GITF road show held at The St. Regis Shenzhen on Tuesday. As the year 2020 will mark the 220th anniversary of Chopin’s birth, the Polish capital city of Warsaw will host the International Chopin Piano Competition (held every five years) and thus welcome large crowds of music aficionados from across the world. The medieval city of Kraków, the Baltic ambers in Gdańsk and the castles in Marburg are also all must-sees in Poland. Germany’s Saxony State has a similar musical tradition as Poland. Andrew Leung, manager of the Tourism Marketing Company of Saxony’s South China office, recommends visiting Saxony’s largest city Leipzig as it is the hometown of Bach and the renowned St. Thomas Boy’s Choir. The 28th GITF will be held at the China Import and Export Fair Complex from Feb. 20 to 22, 2020 and attended by exhibitors from 55 countries and regions. According to Cui Yijing, a representative of the organizer, next year’s fair will focus more on the infusion of culture and tourism and the promotion of tourist routes along domestic high-speed railway lines. |
