A MAN surnamed Lu was recently sentenced to 11 years in prison for masterminding the binding, robbing and coercion of his girlfriend. His two accomplices, surnamed Wei and Li, were sentenced to 10 years in prison and the other two minor suspects were jailed for five years, according to a release by Longhua People’s Procuratorate. The procuratorate filed a robbery case earlier this January after a woman identified as Hong reported that she had been robbed of a mobile phone, four credit cards and her ID card by several masked man while at her home last December. An investigation found that Lu was a gambler and had suggested that his friends rob Hong after he had a quarrel with her. Lu informed the others about the victim’s address and they broke into her apartment. She was pushed down on the sofa, threatened with a fruit knife and bound with the wire from a hairdryer. She was then slapped until she handed over her belongings and forced to take nude photos. After the robbery, Hong’s boyfriend pretended to be ignorant and accompanied her to the police station to make a statement. However, the police quickly discovered Lu’s criminal angle by analyzing the corridor’s monitoring camera, on-site investigation and Hong’s statements. The criminal gang was arrested the next morning.
