Meaning:

This term, having originated in Japanese, is the acronym of “A watashiwa, shintei lu,” which literally means “Oh, I’m dead.” It so happens that the acronym of Chinese pinyin for this sentence is the same (啊,我死了). First used by fans of anime and Japanese shows, this term is popular among the young, who use it as an exaggerated expression for excitement and love for something or someone.

Example:

A: 你的偶像要来开演唱会了。

Nǐ de ǒuxiàng yào lái kāi yǎnchànghuì le。

Your idol will give a concert in town.

B: 早买好票了。Awsl,我好期待啊!

Zǎo mǎi hǎo piào le。Awsl,wǒ hǎo qīdài ā!

I’ve booked a ticket early on. OMG, how happy I am! I just can’t wait!
