Xie Canhuan, Class 3, Senior 2, Shenzhen Xin’an Middle School Instructed by Tang Ying 深圳市新安中学(集团)高二(3)班 谢灿欢 指导老师:汤颖 I have recently finished reading the book “The Kite Runner.” This book is about a boy named Amir and his growing up into a man. It describes how a selfish and weak boy turned into a strong man. The story began in a small town in Afghanistan. Amir lived with his father who had a servant whose son is named Hasan. Amir thought his father loved Hasan, but did not love him. So he decided to win the kite-flying match which happened each winter to win his father’s love. During the match, every participant used their kite line to cut off others’ lines and ran to find the dropped kites. Unexpectedly, he won. However, when Hasan was looking for the last dropped kite for him, he fought with others and got injured. Amir saw it, but he just stood by and didn’t go to help him. Finally Hasan got the kite, but he was bruised all over. Because of this, Amir felt regretful. In order to atone for this, he told Hasan to beat him. Then, to his disappointment, their relationship ended. After 20 years, Amir came to know that Hasan was his half-brother. Because of this, Amir decided to raise Hasan’s son to make up for his sin. I thought perhaps it was an atonement. Hasan and Amir were like friends, but they didn’t admit it because they didn’t have the same belief. However, they had the same father. This book tells me that if I do something wrong, I need to atone for it in the right way. In this international situation, we must not discriminate against others. If that happens, it may have a surprising ending which will be different from the book’s. To summarize, this book is an inspirational one and it is filled with positive views. I hope everyone will read it. |
