Students help raise funds for ICU kids
    2019-12-18  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

5位公益大使校园义卖助力ICU孩子公益基金

Shen Wai International School held an annual community event on the afternoon of December 14. Among a slew of diversified offerings there, including a bazaar with booths selling various foods and joyful performances, a vendor raising funds for the children’s ICU for non-profit Shenzhen Project Care Foundation caught browsers’ attention.

Five student charity ambassadors from the foundation — namely Victor Qiuzhang, James, Victor Wang, Hanson and Jacky — were dressed in blue vests emblazoned with the words “ICU Kids” and busy promoting their operation: Some distributed flyers, while others drew in customers to buy their food.

Through their efforts and the support of schoolmates and parents, they successfully raised 7,500 yuan (US$1,071) in just four hours.

The five ambassadors are all Grade 6 students from Shen Wai International School. To organize this charity sale, they held various meetings to prepare different goods and identify their goals for the event.

“Fifteen yuan for one minute of hope for ICU kids” was their slogan for this charity sale. To better promote the non-profit, they brought two laptops to the community event and played the foundation’s promotional videos.

According to the student volunteers, being admitted to the ICU is like running a race of life. Every kid in the ICU is running against time, and the first 24 hours is a matter of life and death. However, one day in the ICU means 20,000 yuan in daily costs, which is a huge expenditure for the average family. They hope to bring hope to ICU kids through their continuous efforts.
