I said goodbye to a tense semester and had a wonderful summer vacation. Now I regret that I didn’t travel this summer vacation, but in a sense, I still had a lot of fun and gained knowledge. In the middle of July, I went back to my hometown alone and visited my grandma who I had not seen for a long time. During this time, what I enjoyed most was helping my grandma do farmwork in the countryside, where I saw the mountains and fields covered with green plants. When I was about to return to Shenzhen, I felt very sad. At that time, I really felt that the days with my grandma were full of love. For the rest of July, I did my homework at home, and I also did something I was crazy about. For example, I like practicing calligraphy in my spare time. Chinese calligraphy has a long history and features unique lines and rules for writing Chinese characters. It also shows colorful brushwork, composition and handwriting, which reflect the writer’s temperament, interest and aesthetic ideal. During the holiday, I finished two pieces of calligraphy work. From this, I gained a great sense of accomplishment. I also like playing the violin. When I lifted my violin and played it gently, the soft and sweet melody echoed throughout my room. Suddenly, another melody appeared, and the two melodies mixed together; it was very enjoyable. When I finished the song, I felt the joy of success. I also felt the joy that music brings. In the middle of August, I went to a hospital with my classmate to do volunteer work. I got a lot of joy from helping others. Every “thank you” gave me a sense of achievement. Although sometimes I felt tired, all the efforts were worthwhile. Looking back on this meaningful summer vacation, there was happiness, sadness and exciting moments.
