The award ceremony of the 10th Top 10 Shenzhen School Students Literature Awards was held on December 20 at Shenzhen Children’s Library.

The awards went to 10 students including Li Chuxian from Tianjian Elementary School in Futian District and Lai Jiaqi from Wuhe Elementary School in Longgang District.

The list of individual and school winners for the Nomination of the Top 10 Shenzhen School Students Literature Awards, Outstanding Students in Literature Accomplishment, Outstanding Tutors and Outstanding Organizers categories was also released.

Ten students, including Chen Yanzhu from Jintian Elementary School in Luohu District, were nominated for the Top 10 Shenzhen School Students Literature Awards; 80 students including Liu Ziyuan from Shenzhen Elementary School won the Outstanding Students in Literature Accomplishment title; 89 teachers including Wu Shuhua from Qiaoxiang Foreign Languages School in Futian District won the Outstanding Tutors title; and 35 schools including the Shenzhen Senior High School North Campus earned the Outstanding Organizers award.

Wu Min, one of the top 10 winners from Haiyun School in Bao’an District, shared her story at the ceremony in her acceptance speech.

Wu said that she was awarded the Literature Students with the Wildest Imagination title in 2017 when she participated in the event for the first time.

This year, she came back and won the top award for her beautiful essay on her visit to Sandiequan Waterfall at Lushan Mountain in Jiangxi Province.

For many students participating in the awards, the experience is a great opportunity to make friends. Xu Jiayu from Qiaoxiang Foreign Languages School mentioned that strangers and peers had shown great kindness to her and helped her during their outings.

Since the event was launched in April, a record of 20,000 students from 288 elementary schools across the city submitted their entries.

During the summer vacation, 21 groups of participants who made it into the second round went to Jiangxi, Hunan, Fujian and Shanxi provinces for literature tours.

According to the organizer, the top 100 essays will be published in Special Zone Education Magazine.

The competition has been held for 14 consecutive years since 2005 and has evolved into the most popular award of its kind.

It aims to foster an interest among the youth in reading and writing, improve students’ literature accomplishments and writing skills, discover rising stars in literature, and pass on fine traditional Chinese culture.
