To-be-weds hope to register on symmetry day
    2020-01-01  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

YOUNG people planning to get married in the new year, 2020, hope to register Feb. 2, a day which they call a symmetry day, as the Arabic numeral for the day is 20200202.

Though this is what they call a rare day, once in a millennium, it is not a workday and some netizens hope marriage registration offices will open for service that day to satisfy their needs.

“Good things should be in pairs. On this auspicious day, I hope I can get registered and married,” a netizen said in a post.

In a response, the municipal civil affairs bureau said there have been no arrangements made so far, but they can make a decision based on the actual demand.

Employees of registration offices advised to-be-weds not to rush registration.

The last symmetry day dates back to Jan. 1, 1010.

The city’s registration offices are open during workdays and in the morning on Saturdays. To-be-weds can make reservations through “深圳民政,” the WeChat account of the Shenzhen Municipal Civil Affairs Bureau.
