ETC users to be charged by section in GD
    2020-01-01  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

IN accordance with the requirement of the relevant authorities, highways within Guangdong Province will use ETC sensors to charge ETC users by section from today, Jan. 1, 2020.

Additionally, trucks will have toll fees calculated by vehicle size instead of by weight, according to the requirement.

Highways within Guangdong Province started a one-off toll collection system in 2014, which means drivers only need to settle their fees once before exiting a highway.

Differing from the previous mode, the sectional toll collection system will allow ETC users to enter and exit a highway without stopping and be charged by ETC sensors for each section.

As for drivers without ETC devices, they will be given a card by a toll station upon entering a highway and the distance their cars have run will be tracked by the sensors and recorded on the card. They only need to pay their toll when they leave the highway by returning the card.
