11-year-old student wins marine knowledge competition
    2020-01-01  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

The first Shenzhen Marine Knowledge Competition wrapped up on December 28. Eleven-year-old student Ming Jiahui from Shenzhen Mingde Experimental School won the first prize, followed by Zhuang Chenchi from Lixiang School and Hu Xiaozhou from Shenzhen University.

The competition included online and offline sessions. Only nine contestants entered the final. Some were students, some were civil servants and some were workers in Shenzhen. The final contest featured quizzes, poetry games and debates.

According to Ming Jiahui, many of her classmates signed up for the competition, through which they learned lots of interesting marine knowledge, and they would now like to continue promoting such knowledge. “We can do more to explore and protect the ocean,” said Ming.

The first Shenzhen Marine Knowledge Competition has attracted over 20,000 contestants from all over China since it was initiated in September.
