LHASA has launched a series of favorable tourism policies to draw travelers to enjoy its winter charms. Many scenic spots in the capital of the Tibet Autonomous Region will offer free or discounted ticket prices, including the Potala Palace and the Norbulingka Summer Palace. All star-rated, international and boutique hotels in Tibet, and various air routes to the region, will reduce rates by at least half compared with the peak season, according the Lhasa Tourism Development Department. Those policies will last till March 15. It’s the third year since Lhasa first kicked off winter tourism promotions. The region received 2.46 million domestic and overseas tourists during the winter tourism period from Nov. 1, 2018 to March 15, 2019, an increase of 84.2 percent year-on-year. Tourist income reached nearly 2.62 billion yuan (US$370 million), up 41 percent year-on-year, during the period, according to the department. (China Daily) |
