City in festive mood
    2020-01-21  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

AS the AS the Spring Festival is approaching, the Shenzhen Municipal Urban Administration and Law Enforcement Bureau cooperated with each district, adorning roadsides, pedestrian overpasses, streetlights and parks with flowers and ornaments like lanterns in classic Chinese red.

More than 120,000 such lanterns have been hung up on lamp poles along over 320 municipal roads and 40 pedestrian overpasses. One of the city’s major avenues, Shennan Boulevard, is illuminated by various shapes of lights, including a cluster of 600 balloon-shaped lamps on a green belt on the boulevard. Several buildings along the road are coated with giant posters with Chinese characters or pictures denoting the celebration of the festival.

Also organized by the bureau, this year’s Shenzhen Spring Festival Flower Fair is being held at the open-air pedestrian street outside One Avenue, a newly built giant commercial complex in Futian District, until Friday, the Chinese New Year’s Eve, during which visitors can not only purchase flowers but also appreciate exhibits made up of many kinds of flowers arranged in rat shapes to mark the Year of the Rat.
