THE first phase of the Binhai Cultural Park in Bao’an is planned to open on a trial basis today, according to information released by the South China branch of General Construction Co. of CCTED Group. The park includes five sections, namely the Bao’an Performance Center, Binhai Amusement Park, Binhai Cultural Park (with parking lots and a room for electromechanical equipment), a ferris wheel and supporting facilities. The park is divided into three zones by function. From east to west are located an art zone comprised of a ferris wheel park, a culture zone with light shows and a performance center, and an exercise zone that includes a children’s park. The cultural zone, which is comprised of 19 specially shaped steel structures that each are made of 5,000 tons of steel, is said to have garnered attention for being the largest group of specially shaped structures in China. Given the fact that Metro lines are planned to run under the park, the project included 13 transfer beams that each weigh 520 tons to avoid any negative influence on future Metro construction.
