3,100 free bus tickets handed out to workers
    2020-01-22  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

A BUS ticket distribution ceremony was held at Bao’an Bus Station on Friday to help migrant workers travel for the Spring Festival, the Bao’an Daily reported.

A total of 3,100 complimentary bus tickets were provided for the workers in Bao’an. “The complimentary tickets provided by Bao’an District are mainly for entrepreneurs and grass-roots workers in the district. We hope these workers can get back home with joy and come back to Bao’an for work with a positive mood as well,” said a staffer with the district’s Spring Festival transport office.

“I’m so grateful for having the free tickets. I really miss my family,” said a worker representative, surnamed Guan, from Changzhu Road and Bridge Co. “Purchasing a ticket is so difficult nowadays. I learned to use several online ticket-snatching systems, but was unable to grab a ticket. The free coach tickets solved my anxiety about my inability to be home. I hope more such activities can be held to make us feel warm,” added Guan.

Another worker, surnamed Xiao from Shaoyang, Hunan Province, said that many migrant workers like him only have a chance to go home once a year. However, the train tickets are hard to grab, so most of them choose to take a coach home. Bao’an provides free tickets every year, showing care for migrant workers.

A worker surnamed Luo said he had prepared many Spring Festival presents for his two children and the elders at home in Qingyuan, Guangdong Province. Luo and his wife work at an electronics factory. They have only had a chance to go home about three times a year and each time is short. They have waited for the Spring Festival for so long, and this time they can spend a longer time with their family.
