The patient, a 66-year-old male, has a history of traveling to Wuhan City, where most of the recent cases have occurred. He showed symptoms including fever and fatigue on January 3, returned to Shenzhen for treatment on January 4, and was transferred to a hospital for isolated treatments on January 11.

Palace Museum apologizes

The Palace Museum apologized on Friday for the oversight that made possible the car being driven by a woman inside the Forbidden City.

The action came to light due to four pictures showcasing a vehicle parking in the corner of the square in front of the Gate of Supreme Harmony (Taihemen). The pictures, shown to be shot on January 13, were posted by the female driver on Sina Weibo.

Some netizens demanded further investigations into the incident and punishment while others expressed disappointment at the museum management.

Trade agreement signed

China and the United States formally signed their phase-one economic and trade agreement in Washington on January 15.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Vice Premier Liu He, chief of the Chinese side of the China-U.S. comprehensive economic dialogue, first sent a message from President Xi Jinping to Trump.

The conclusion of the agreement is good for China, the United States and the whole world, Xi said in the message read out loud by Liu.

Plan to cut plastic use

The country on Sunday released a plan to ban or reduce the production and use of environmentally-unfriendly plastic products in the next five years.

The country will gradually ban or restrict the production, sale and use of certain plastics while promoting their degradable, eco-friendly alternatives.

By 2025, China expects to effectively control plastic pollution and substantially reducing the amount of plastic waste in the landfills of key cities, said the document.
