Xia Baolong appointed director of Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of State Council

THE State Council, China’s cabinet, has appointed Xia Baolong as director of the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council, replacing Zhang Xiaoming. Zhang has been at his new post as deputy director of the office.

Luo Huining and Fu Ziying were also appointed as deputy director of the office.

Fourteenth case confirmed in US

THE 14th person has been diagnosed with COVID-19 in the United States on Wednesday, according to the country’s Centers for Disease Control.

The patient who is now in California was evacuated recently from the Central China city of Wuhan where the outbreak started and had been under a 14-day federal quarantine.
