Logistics firm helps donors clear customs
    2020-02-18  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

SHENZHEN Juhang International Logistics Co. Ltd. is voluntarily assisting overseas Chinese donors, both groups and individuals, with passing customs clearance and getting cargo sent to recipients in Hubei Province, the epicenter of novel coronavirus outbreak, as quickly as possible, the sznews.com reported.

Juhang International required its countrywide branches to offer a free customs clearance consultation service to overseas donors and set up a 24-hour hotline Jan. 25 after authorities declared the COVID-19 outbreak a public health emergency of the highest level.

The company also contacted customs offices and charity organizations to explore ways to streamline the customs clearance process. It also posted on its official WeChat account instructional flowcharts for donors’ reference.

The cooperation between relevant parties has enabled the precious cargo to arrive at the earliest possible times. The company was commissioned by Cainiao.com to be responsible for the customs clearance of cargo entering the mainland through the Guangzhou and Shenzhen airports.

Alibaba and Cainiao.com set up a special fund of 1 billion yuan (US$143.29 million) to purchase medical material and supplies overseas and provided them to hospitals in Wuhan and other areas hard hit by the COVID-19 outbreak.

So far, the company has helped clear 5 million donated items through customs. The donated cargo includes masks, protective clothes, googles, gloves, disinfectants and life support machines, worth an amount of around 20 million yuan.  (Han Ximin)
