Wuhan University, famous for the groves of spectacular cherry blossoms planted across its campus, is collaborating with domestic apps to live stream scenes of the soft pink flowers in bloom as the COVID-19 outbreak keeps nature lovers indoors. By searching keyword “樱花直播,” mobile phone users can watch the live stream from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. every day until March 25 via the People’s Daily (人民日报), CCTV News (央视新闻), Tencent Video (腾讯视频) and Bilibili (哔哩哔哩) apps. You can also explore in the campus’ various cherry blossom trees’ locations on the Xinhuanet (新华网) and the Migu Video (咪咕视频) apps by searching keyword “云赏樱.” Live streams will also play on the Wuhan University (武汉大学), Xinhuanet, People’s Daily, Migu Video and CCTV News Weibo accounts. With cherry blossom trees numbering at approximately 1,000, Wuhan University normally attracts millions of visitors during the late-March blooming period every year. As the capital of Hubei Province and epicenter of the outbreak, Wuhan went into lockdown Jan. 23 for epidemic control purposes.
