More education resources to be introduced
    2020-03-26  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

SHENZHEN will set up branches of renowned high schools including Guangdong Experimental High School in the city and build a talent cultivation base with Tsinghua University, according to a 2020 plan released recently by the city’s education authority.

In addition to continuing to increase enrollment quotas across compulsory education and high schools, the city will promote high-quality education and explore new mechanisms for managing schools and cultivating teachers.

Efforts will be made to ensure that all teachers at kindergartens across the city hold associate degrees or higher and that 50 percent of those in public kindergartens hold certificates higher than a bachelor’s degree.

Another highlight falls on developing higher education, according to the plan. Shenzhen will give special financial support to universities to strengthen subject research and promote the construction of universities including Shenzhen Conservatory of Music, Chinese Academy of Sciences-Shenzhen University of Technology and Sun Yat-sen University Shenzhen campus.

It will also assist Georgia Tech Shenzhen Institute, Tianjin University and the International Design School of Harbin Institute of Technology-Shenzhen to obtain approvals from the Ministry of Education and promote cooperation between Tsinghua University and the University of California, Berkeley as well as between Peking University and the University of Cambridge to build joint colleges in Shenzhen.
