2 imported cases confirmed
    2020-03-27  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

SHENZHEN confirmed two new imported COVID-19 cases Wednesday, bringing the number of imported cases in the city to 26, the Shenzhen Municipal Health Commission reported Thursday.

A 22-year-old male of Chinese nationality studying in the United States returned to China from the United States. He flew from New York to Guangzhou on flight CZ300 on Sunday, entered the Chinese mainland via Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport on Monday, and was later sent to a designated quarantine point by a designated vehicle. His temperature upon entry was within the normal range. Preliminary nucleic acid test results released Tuesday and reviewed results released Wednesday were both positive.

The patient has been transferred to the Shenzhen No. 3 People’s Hospital for treatment. The 37 persons on the Chinese mainland who have been identified as having close contact with the patient have all been quarantined for medical observation.

A 34-year-old male of French nationality working in Shenzhen returned to China from France. He flew from Paris to Hong Kong on flight AF188 on March 1, and entered the Chinese mainland via Shenzhen Bay Checkpoint on March 2. His body temperature upon entry was within the normal range, and no abnormalities were indicated on his health status declaration form. He began to feel unwell March 11. His 14-day quarantine ended March 17. On Monday, he went to Hong Kong University Shenzhen Hospital for a medical consultation. CT imaging showed shadows in both apexes of his lungs. Preliminary nucleic acid test results released Tuesday and reviewed results released Wednesday were both positive.

The patient has been transferred to the Shenzhen No. 3 People’s Hospital for treatment. The 30 persons on the Chinese mainland who have been identified as having close contact with the patient have all been quarantined for medical observation.
