WORK on the 14 Metro lines (sections) of Shenzhen has resumed and an investment totalling 5.53-billion-yuan (US$778.63 million) has been completed in the first quarter of the year, according to an announcement by Shenzhen Metro Group on Wednesday. This year, the city will complete construction of seven lines (sections), namely Phase III of Line 2, the southern extension of Line 3, Phase III of Line 4, Phase I and II of Line 6, Phase I of Line 8 and Line 10. Once put into operation, the total length of the Shenzhen Metro network will exceed 400 kilometers. Time-wise, Line 6 and Line 10 will be put into operation in August after testing. By the end of March, a total of 57,683 people have participated in the construction of 14 lines meeting the project demands. So far, 30 constructions sites of Metro Line 14 have entered normal construction and 35 percent of the major structure is complete.
