你品,你细品
    2020-04-14  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

Meaning:

Literally translated as “you savor it, slowly,” this saying is used jokingly by Chinese netizens to ask another person to think something over and try to figure out the implied meaning. The saying caught on after a funny short video was liked many times on Douyin, in which a man was trying to persuade his wife to give up spending on luxury bags and instead save money so that they can buy a home. The man used this phrase to be persuasive, and the way he said it was very funny.

Example:

A: 我上周出差去上海,约了前女友吃饭,结果买单的时候她抢着付了钱,然后又开车送我回酒店。

Wǒ shàngzhōu chūchāi qù shànghǎi,yuē le qiánnǚyǒu chīfàn,jiéguǒ mǎidān de shíhòu tā qiǎngzhe fùleqián,ránhòu yòu kāichē sòng wǒ huí jiǔdiàn。

I asked my ex out for dinner during my business trip to Shanghai last week. She insisted on picking up the check after the meal and then drove me back to the hotel.

B: 你品,你细品。

Nǐpǐn,nǐxìpǐn。

What did she want? You should think about it.

A: 我猜她是为了给我看她的新款特斯拉。

Wǒ cāi tā shì wèile gěiwǒ kàn tāde xīnkuǎn tèsīlā。

I guess she wanted to show me her new Tesla.
