Kuang Xinyu, Class 14, Senior 2, Shenzhen Xin’an Middle School Instructed by Tang Ying 深圳市新安中学(集团)高二(14)班 匡欣雨 指导老师:汤 颖 “Hello, everyone!” If we hear this sentence, there is no doubt that it is our foreign teacher Janton who greets us. He has been teaching for more than 10 years. What impressed me most in the first oral class was his smiling face. He is not very tall and a little fat. That is why I think he is so friendly that I want to communicate with him. I learned a lot from communicating with him. He usually teaches us practical skills of learning English. He believes that to learn a language well depends on the intrinsic character of an individual. The most important factor is the learner’s effort, which is key to decide whether he or she will be successful or not. Therefore, he frequently stressed the importance of personal effort. He told us a motto that I find very reasonable, “Your talent determines your lowest level while your efforts determine your highest.” His words have had a great influence on me. Once, I did not get the score I had expected in my oral exam. My heart was filled with sadness, but he told me the result was only temporary. He taught me a variety of ways to improve my spoken English. For instance, he suggested that I get up early every morning and go to the classroom to read English articles aloud. After I followed his advice, my oral English became more and more fluent. As a result, I earned a high score on my next oral test. When I told him the good news, he smiled and told me that it was the result of my own efforts. From my perspective, his guidance led us on to the right track. I am particularly grateful to him from the bottom of my heart. |
