Wang Shi completes new urban decathlon
    2020-04-24  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

WANG SHI, Founder and Honorary Chairman of China Vanke Co., Ltd, reached the peak of Lianhua Hill on April 19, marking that he had achieved his goal of climbing 10 mountains across Shenzhen in 20 days. Lianhua Hill is his last stop and conquering the hill means that it only took eight days for Wang to fulfill his promise he made not long ago at the launching ceremony of Shenzhen’s “Ten Mountains Action.”

From Wang ascended to the peak of Wutong Mountain to April 19 when he finished climbing Lianhua Hill, the entrepreneur has completed his all-round athletic competition consisting of “exploring 10 cities across China, climbing 10 mountains across Shenzhen, competing in water sports on 10 bodies of water and engaging in 10 sports events with different circles in these 10 cities.”

Wang believes that although the pandemic outbreak is a crisis, staying confident, positive and healthy brings people opportunities. Wang said by promoting outdoor activities suitable for public participation, residents will feel motivated to go outdoors for various sports events and eventually the city will regain vigor, joy and hope.

Shenzhen is home to 36 amateur mountaineers who conquered Mount Qomolangma, representing the largest number among metropolises around the world. Shenzhen ranks 22nd among the 112 countries which saw their countrymen ascend to the top of Mount Qomolangma each year. Wang hopes to see more residents participate in the emerging sports in the future.
