Reservations not needed for drivers to east
    2020-05-01  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

DRIVERS to the city’s eastern tourist attractions, including Meisha in Yantian District and Depeng Peninsula, do not have to make reservations for their vehicles during the May Day holiday.

Meanwhile, police said they would initiate the use of tidal lanes depending on the traffic situation, if congestion gets worse due to a heavy flow vehicles.

The tidal lanes run five kilometers between Yangang Flyover of Huizhou-Shenzhen Coastal Expressway and the end of Dameisha Tunnel.

To relieve traffic, police encourage residents to use public transportation, as the higher efficiency has increased thanks to the introduction of exclusive lanes for public buses. The bus lanes from Luoshan entrance to Huizhou-Shenzhen Coastal Expressway to Linchang Tunnel only allow vehicles with yellow-colored license plates, which have more than 10 seats in the vehicles, during weekends and holidays. Other automobiles entering the lanes will be fined 300 yuan (US$42) and add penalty points to the driver’s license.

Drivers were required to make advanced reservations for vehicles to Meisha and Dapeng during weekends and holidays between May 1 and Oct. 7 last year.

The reservation rule reduced congestion reports in Meisha by 51 percent and Nan’ao in Dapeng by 26.2 percent during the period.

But travelers to seven tourism attractions in Dapeng Peninsula need to make reservations 1-3 days in advance through Depeng official WeChat account “大鹏文旅通.”

With the approach of the May Day holiday, the city’s park management center will control the volume of park visitors or temporarily close the parks if overcrowded.

Shenzhen Children’s Amusement Park will set a limit of 20,000 visitors a day.

Shenzhen Bay Park will implement a new rule to prohibit bicycles between 9 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. at weekends and holidays between April and October. Between November and the next March, the hours of prohibition will be between 9 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. on weekends and holidays.
