Red tide

A RED tide of about 6 square kilometers was found in the waters near Shenzhen Bay on Friday. It faded Saturday and was confirmed to be non-toxic, according to the Shenzhen Oceanic Monitoring and Forecast Center.

Test kit export

TEST kits for the novel coronavirus produced by Shenzhen Yahuilong Bio-tech Co. Ltd. were exported to Japan’s hospitals for COVID-19 prevention and control.

This was the first time for the company to export such products to Japan, and at a cost of more than 14 million yuan (US$1.98 million). So far, the company has received orders from more than 40 countries and regions for the virus testing kits.

Green coverage

THE forest coverage in Shenzhen has reached 78,816 hectares, taking up 39 percent of the city’s area, the latest figures released by the Shenzhen Ecology Environment Bureau show.

By the end of 2019, Shenzhen had built 25 nature reserves and the area of barren land had been reduced by 48.35 percent compared to 2013.

Park visitors

PARKS in the city received a total of 1.62 million visitors during the five-day May Day holiday, according to information released by the city’s park management center.

Shenzhen Bay Park saw the most visitors with 590,000 tourists, followed by Lianhua Hill Park and Yangtai Mountain Forest Park with 251,549 and 158,300 visitors, respectively.
