‘Transformers’ prequel

Josh Cooley, who co-wrote and directed the Oscar-winning “Toy Story 4,” has been hired to helm a big-screen animated “Transformers” feature.

Film festivals united

The 10-day “We Are One: A Global Film Festival” will feature movies curated by the Berlin, Cannes, Venice, Sundance, Toronto and Tribeca film festivals, among others, starting on May 29 on YouTube.

Oscars accepts online films

The organizers of the Oscars said that films released only on streaming platforms or video on demand while movie theaters are closed due to the coronavirus pandemic would be eligible for Academy Awards next year.

Eurovision 2021

Rotterdam has agreed to host the 2021 Eurovision song contest, one of the world’s largest televised events, after this year’s edition was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic. New dates have not yet been set for the 2021 edition.

Rolling Stones’ new song

The Rolling Stones gave their fans some satisfaction recently by releasing a new track “Living in a Ghost Town,” part-recorded during the coronavirus lockdown. The song is powered by a Keith Richards’ riff and a chanted refrain.

Ridley’s new flick

Daisy Ridley is in talks to star in the crime thriller “The Ice Beneath Her.” The movie is about a young woman found dead in a business tycoon’s marble-lined hallway, a crime that comes to resemble an earlier unsolved killing.(SD-Agencies)
