Online lesson time
    2020-05-06  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

In 2020, originally we would have had a beautiful spring, but the cruel reality is that we had been on “spring break” for four months due to COVID-19. The epidemic swept across the world and influenced everyone’s life. As students, we cannot go back to school. Fortunately, thanks to the rapid development of the Internet and technology, we can still have online lessons at home, and there are various advantages of online education.

First, studying online saves time and is very efficient. Since we can take advantage of the Internet and study directly at home through our computers, we do not even have to leave our room but can still keep practising and learning. The time we waste because of commuting can be utilized to accomplish more tasks. Moreover, the sophisticated computer functions enable us to learn more efficiently. For example, we only need to spend “just a morning” to finish our work and assignments, but before we had always needed a whole day to do the same tasks.

Second, online education also enhances our ability to learn independently. Different from traditional classes in which the teachers guide and supervise what you do to various tasks beside you, in online lessons, students are supposed to self-supervise and try to handle problems by themselves. Additionally, the online classroom enables us to actively search for learning resources, and make full use of them independently.

Obviously we benefit a lot from the online lessons since it is efficient and leads us to be more independent, but I still want to go back to school. It is more fun and exciting to learn with my friends. Also, face-to-face education has advantages that online education can never provide. For example, traditional learning enables the teachers to better evaluate the students’ performances through a variety of aspects besides mere assignment. Additionally, in traditional classes, students can learn with classmates, which can practice our communication skills and improve our team work ability.

I hope that the spread of coronavirus will come to an end soon, then we can get back to our normal life.
