THREE online promotional events for the 2020 Shenzhen Open Data Innovation Contest (SODiC) attracted an audience of more than 10 million — local and global — viewers from April 23 to 30, Shenzhen Special Zone Daily reported yesterday. The contest, scheduled to take place from March 27 to July 30, aims to unleash the value of ubiquitous data and empower Shenzhen in terms of urban governance and public services. Competing projects are required to provide creative solutions and in-depth analysis to the contest’s open data and relevant data, build an algorithm model to solve the given tasks, or design urban management and public service solutions for Nanshan District. According to the organizers, more than 2 million yuan (US$282,000) will be awarded to around 60 winners from 24 award categories. The biggest individual prize will reach 200,000 yuan. Additionally, as one of the organizers of the contest, Huawei will offer cloud resources worth 300,000 yuan to the winning teams. Shenzhen and Nanshan District will also provide a series of preferential policies, including incubation, strategic investments and resource connection, for the winners. The contest is hosted by Shenzhen Municipal Government Services Data Bureau, Nanshan District Government, and co-organized by Nanshan District Government Services Data Bureau and Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd. (Zhang Yu) |
