    2020-05-13  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

FOUR scientists and researchers in Shenzhen have been listed as candidates for the Second China National Innovation Awards.

Among them, Gao Wen, a professor with Peking University who works at Pengcheng Lab, is a candidate for a medal, and Li Qingquan, president of Shenzhen University, Zhang Zheng with Shenzhen No. 3 People’s Hospital, and Huang Sanwen with Shenzhen Agriculture Genomics Research Institute of Chinese Academy of Agriculture Sciences are candidates for honorary credential winners.

The China National Innovation Awards is an important set of awards following the National Awards for Natural Sciences, National Awards for Technology Inventions and National Awards for Science and Technology Advancement.

The awards, held every three years, are divided into two categories, one for individuals and the other for collectives. The organizers, the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security and the China Association for Science and Technology, have selected 300 individuals who are eligible for credentials, 30 individuals for medals and 10 units for plaques.

Professor Gao is director of the Shenzhen Internet Space Science and Technology Laboratory (Pengcheng Laboratory). Under his guidance, the laboratory is focusing on research in ICT, IA and cyber safety.

Li, a researcher in precision engineering testing and space information sensing, has made contributions in high-precision road surveying and testing, environment sensing and modeling in complicated scenarios, and time and space information service in urban areas.

Professor Zhang led his team to make contributions in separating 200 monoclonal antibodies from the novel coronavirus.

Huang engages in plant physiology and applies big data in the breeding of vegetable crops. He participates in many international genomics plans and is a leading scientist in vegetable genomics.
