Shenzhen No. 3 Senior High School wins big at USAD China 2020
    2020-05-13  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

In the South China division of the United States Academic Decathlon China 2020 (USAD 2020) competition, 11 contestants representing No. 3 Senior High School of Shenzhen won a total of 11 medals, including four gold medals, one silver and six bronzes, as well as the Outstanding Organization Award and the General Education Rising School Award. The result was announced by the organizing committee on April 30.

Of the 11 contestants, Yang Zhe and Liu Wentao won the first prize in the Music category and Liu also won the first prize in the Science category. Chen Qiangyi grabed the first prize in the Social Science category.

The United States Academic Decathlon (USAD) is a ten-event scholastic competition for teams of high school students and enjoys a history of more than five decades.

Each year the competition attracts over 20,000 high school students from top schools. This year 300 or so teams consisting of nearly 2,500 contestants from 200 top high schools competed in the annual event to broaden their academic horizon and challenge their capabilities.

Due to the coronavirus outbreak, the competition canceled all the offline exams and switched to online evaluation.

Although it’s the first time that the students from No. 3 Senior High School of Shenzhen had participated in the competition, they prepared for it in earnest and received guidance from their teachers online.
