Two SZ universities among China’s top 100
    2020-05-19  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

TWO universities in Shenzhen, namely Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) and Shenzhen University (SZU), were listed 46th and 65th, respectively, in China’s top 100 universities, according to the 2020 Chinese university ranking released recently by Shanghai Ranking Consultancy.

The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen ranks first among all cooperative universities in China.

This is said to be the first time that the ranking has categorized a total of 1,200 Chinese universities into different types, such as comprehensive universities, finance and economics-focused universities, language-focused universities and nonpublic universities.

In addition to SUSTech and SZU, seven other universities in Guangdong Province were placed in the top 100, namely Sun Yat-sen University (10th), South China University of Technology (25th), Jinan University (48th), South China Normal University (67th), South China Agricultural University (88th), Guangdong University of Technology (95th), and Guangzhou University (100th).

In another development, SZU’s ranking in Essential Science Indicators (ESI) moved up to the 64th position.

SZU’s global ranking also moved up by 118 places to 911th position, becoming the fastest-growing university in China, according to ESI data.
