Recommended places for picnics in city
    2020-05-22  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

Tired of staying indoors after months of being confined to your apartment? Just pack your picnic basket and go out for some fresh air. These parks in the city will take you back to the long-missed outdoor pleasures.

Mangrove Coastal Ecological Park 红树林海滨生态公园

If you’re desiring a picnic by the seaside, Mangrove Coastal Ecological Park will never fail you with its mangrove forest, and what’s more, a lawn that faces the Shenzhen Bay. Picnicking on the lawn in the evening while enjoying the breathtaking seaside sunset will be one of the best picnic experiences ever.

Add: Opposite to The University of Hong Kong-Shenzhen Hospital, Binhe Boulevard, Futian District (福田区滨河大道香港大学深圳医院对面)

Metro: Line 9 to Shenzhen Bay Park Station (深圳湾公园站), Exit D2

Shenzhen Central Park

深圳中心公园

As one of the oldest parks in the city, Shenzhen Central Park is like a tranquil forest hidden in the hustle of central Futian. Visitors can enjoy picnic time on a lawn surrounded by luxuriant tropical trees such as Phoenix canariensis and Roystonea regia.

Add: 1 Zhenhua Road West, Futian District (福田区振华西路1号)

Metro: Line 1 to Huaqiang Road Station (华强路站), Exit B

Lianhua Hill Park 莲花山公园

With a lawn of nearly 200,000 square meters to its east and southeast, Lianhua Hill Park is a wonderful place for picnic lovers. Located in central Futian, the park allows visitors to enjoy the modern views of Shenzhen’s central business district while savoring their delicately prepared food.

Add: 6030 Hongli Road, Futian District (福田区红荔路6030号)

Metro: Line 2 to Lianhua West Station (莲花西站), Exit A

Xiangmi Park 香蜜公园

Xiangmi Park is known for having the most beautiful marriage registration office in Shenzhen and a walkway in the air over stands of trees. Yet a brook that runs through the park, with weeds swaying and shoals of fish shuttling in the water, makes it a more adorable place for picnicking. A thick picnic blanket is preferred as the lawn may be wet with dew.

Add: 30 Nongyuan Road, Futian District (福田区农园路30号)

Metro: Line 7 to Nonglin Station (农林站), Exit C

Shenzhen North Railway Station Central Park

深圳北站中心公园

Opened to the public in last November, Shenzhen North Railway Station Central Park is located at the foot of Yaji Mountain and is opposite to the west square of Shenzhen North Railway Station. It’s the biggest park in Minzhi Subdistrict. Designed without altering the original terrain, the “sunshine lawn” in the park is undulating with curves and slopes. Next to the lawn is a play zone for children.

Add: Opposite to the west square of Shenzhen North Railway Station, Longhua District (龙华区深圳北站西广场对面)

Metro: Line 4 or 5 to Shenzhen North Railway Station (深圳北站), Exit A and then walk westward for 12 minutes

Meilin Mountain Park

梅林山公园

Adjacent to the Melin Reservoir and surrounded by mountains on three sides, Meilin Mountain Park is the place to go if you’re seeking serenity in the city. Woods of litchi and plum trees are grown in the park. The slope near the reservoir is an ideal place for spending some time alone or with friends. A trek on part or all of the 14-kilometer hiking route from Tanglang Mountain is also recommended.

Add: 14 Meiting Road, Futian District (福田区梅亭路14号)

Metro: Line 9 to Meijing Station (梅景站), Exit C

Donghu Park 东湖公园

Donghu Park, opened in 1966, used to be a must-visit scenic site in Shenzhen. Now it’s like an old friend to residents in Luohu District. People would take a walk and go jogging or boating there. There’s a large lawn next to a chain bridge across the lake in the park. The barbecue field nearby is a wonderful place for gatherings. The lawn is close to the west gate.

Add: 4006 Aiguo Road, Luohu District (罗湖区爱国路4006号)

Metro: Line 5 or 7 to Tai’an Station (太安站), Exit C and then take a taxi.

Dashahe Park 大沙河公园
