Jason, G9, RDF International School COVID-19, a globally-spread infectious disease that has caused a surge of death, is undoubtedly the burning issue at the moment. It is a war without the smoke of gunpowder — in order not to be infected, people have to be home quarantined and even be “armed to the teeth” when they go shopping. At this specific moment, the mask became the best gift for this Spring Festival. Watching the daily increase in the number of infected people, listening to the TV announcer anxiously said that even a mask is difficult to find, we all felt broken-hearted. As ordinary citizens, what could we do to help the people in need? After all-night-long careful consideration with my parents, we made a very important decision — to produce masks! My parents made the decision and deployment within one night, got the government approval in two days, then efficiently booked the equipment and designed a dust-free workshop renovation plan, and then completed all the packaging design — they run ran off their feet off every day. They were so exhausted and always had no time for the a meal. My mom even suffered from insomnia for three nights. To be honest, at the very beginning I was very doubtful about this decision. The sudden transition from the environmentally friendly products to masks requires a great deal of money and energy to change the production line. Finally I asked my parents why they exerted so much energy to do that. My father, with a gentle smile, just quietly said to me: “A Man of Chivalry serves the country and the people.” His words suddenly filled my confusing world with bright light — it made me think of the exhausted faces of the “Angels in White” and the haggard faces of the patients. I understood. For what? For the people! I think in this difficult circumstance, as part of the Chinese people, we should stand out and make our contributions. My parents teach me through their deeds that ordinary people can also shoulder their responsibility to serve the country and help more people. Greatly influenced by them, I also make up my mind to ceaselessly equip myself and do my best to serve the society. |
