THREE types of children’s shoes from two brands were found containing excessive polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) based on the Germany Safety (GS) standard, the Southern Metropolis Daily reported, citing information from the Shenzhen Consumer Council. These include one type of children’s sports shoes and sandals produced by brand Dr. Kong and one type of children’s shoes made by Bobdog. Staff with the council suggested that when children’s skin has frequent contact with products having excessive PAHs, their health might be affected. After the report, Dr. Kong said that they will conduct a thorough check on their products and to improve their production standards. The Dr. Kong shoes assessed by the council met the national standards, said the council. Shenzhen Consumer Council recently selected a total of 25 types of children’s shoes from different manufacturers for an assessment. The assessment took four aspects into consideration, namely chemical safety (safety of source materials), mechanical safety, product performance and tags and labels. A total of 11 types of shoes earned five stars (full marks) in all four items. Nine of them are from domestic brands, the Daily report said. (Wang Jingli) |
