Big-scale shows of the 9th Shenzhen Children Drama Festival will be live-streamed on the Internet and on new media platforms between July 18 and December 18 because of the COVID-19 pandemic, as announced at the launch ceremony of the tickets to the Drama Festival on May 29. The small-scale shows will be presented offline. Supported by the Shenzhen Tonghua Art Ensemble and Shenzhen Xiaoyuhang Children’s Club, this edition of the Children Drama Festival will present 30 or so performances featuring a number of domestic classics including “The Wonderful Adventures of Nils,” “Young Confucius,” “Mulan,” “Baby, Erxiao the Cowherd,” “Dream Baby,” “We Are Terra Cotta Warriors,” and others. Meanwhile, theme events such as lectures, director training lectures and seminars will also be live-streamed. Running into its 9th edition since first launched in 2012, the annual Children Drama Festival has been inviting art troupes of different styles to bring audiences new performances and innovations in terms of contents and forms. “It will be our first time to live-stream shows, and I believe it is sure to bring new experiences to our audience,” said Zhang Mingzhu, director of the organizing committee office of the Children Drama Festival. Of additional interest, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Division for the 2020 Jingyun Fairy Tales Festival and the Beijing Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Children Art Exchange Week National Recitation Contest are open for submissions. This year’s themes are the “40th Anniversary of the Founding of Shenzhen City” and “Me and My Motherland.” For registration information, you can follow the official WeChat account of China Fairy Tales Festival (WeChat ID: cn_tonghuajie).
