A THREE-DAY live-streaming festival that features local products is scheduled to be held Aug. 20.

At the online carnival, famous influencers and Internet celebrities will be invited to promote Shenzhen brands, commodities as well as high-tech products that await to be released.

As the first online shopping festival in the city, it claims to provide primary sources and factory prices to attract customers.

Wang Bin, the initiator of the event, said local fashion products such as clothes and accessories will dominate the sales. Jewelry and high-tech products are also highlights of the carnival.

“In addition to fuel the consumption and reduce inventories, we want to help promote brands established in Shenzhen. The products we choose are competitive in the country and can best represent the city,” said Wang.

According to Wang, a product-selecting event, an e-commerce product exhibition, an influencer marketing competition, an award ceremony and an industrial venture capital session will also be held through Aug. 22.

Held by China (Shenzhen) International IP Licensing Industry EXPO, Shenzhen Ideal Youth Entrepreneurship Service Center and Shenzhen Shuibei Wanshan Jewelry Industry Base, the festival can be accessed through live-streaming platforms including Tik Tok, Kuaishou and Taobao.

According to Wang, currently there are around 500 live-streaming bases in Shenzhen.

Media reports say that in the first quarter of this year, over 4 million live-streaming events were recorded nationwide. The industry scale reached 4.3 trillion yuan (US$606 billion) last year and will increase to 9 trillion yuan by the end of 2020.
