Yantian coastal promenade to reopen
    2020-06-09  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

THE coastal promenade in Yantian District is expected to open at the end of this month, as over 90 percent of a rebuilding project on the greenway has concluded, Shenzhen Special Zone Daily reported.

The rebuilding project, extending nearly 19.5 kilometers, starts at the ancient tower in Zhongying Street and extends alongside the Golden Bay Beach, connecting Shatoujiao, Yantian Port, Dameisha and Xiaomeisha beaches.

An engineer with the project surnamed Li told the Daily that the promenade, which was damaged by Typhoon Mangkhut in 2018, can survive from a once-in-100-year typhoon after the reconstruction.

Three stations were built at the junction of the coastal promenade and Yantian greenway, each with a library covering an area of more than 80 square meters.

In another development, the Tingtao area of the Meilin Park in Futian District has been opened to the public recently, according to the Daily.

The area, located at the northern part of Meilin Road, occupies an area of 15 hectares and is covered by a rich variety of plantlife.

Facilities such as sightseeing platforms and public toilets were built to provide conveniences for citizens.

There is also a jogging lane extending about 1,000 meters and stairs for citizens to climb the steep hills, around 500 meters in total.  (Wang Jingli)
