THE details have been decided on the routes and stations of three intercity and high-speed rails, namely Shenzhen-Daya Bay Intercity Rail, Shenzhen-Huizhou Intercity Rail and Shenzhen-Shenshan High-speed Rail, according to plans released by Shenzhen Urban Transport Planning Center on Wednesday. The Shenzhen-Daya Bay Intercity Rail will run 86.83 kilometers from Terminal 4 of Shenzhen International Airport to Daya Bay Economic and Technological Development Zone in Huizhou, passing Bao’an, Longhua, Longgang and Pingshan districts in Shenzhen. It will have 13 stations, 10 of which will be in Shenzhen territory. The Shenzhen-Huizhou Intercity Rail will run 141.92 kilometers. The 58-kilometer Qianbao-Pingdi section will have 11 stations including one in Dongguan. The Shenzhen-Shenshan High-speed Rail will start from Xili Station and end at Shenshan Station, passing Nanshan, Longhua, Futian, Luohu, Longgang and Pingshan in Shenzhen, and Huiyang and Huidong in Huizhou. The 129-kilometer rail will have six stations. Xili and Huidong stations are ground-level stations, Qingshuihe and Huizhou South stations are underground stations, and Pingshan and Shenshan Stations are stations on elevated bridges. The Shenzhen-Shenshan rail will cut the trip to Shenshan Special Cooperation Zone to 30 minutes when it becomes operational in 2025. The city has planned to construct five rails within the year to boost the connectivity within the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. The other two rails are the Longgang-Dapeng spur line and the Qianhai-Huanggang Checkpoint section of the Guangzhou-Dongguan-Shenzhen Intercity Rail. The Longgang-Dapeng spur line will enhance the connectivity of Dapeng with the rest of Shenzhen through connections with the Shenzhen-Huizhou Intercity Rail and Shenzhen-Daya Bay Intercity Rail. The total length of the rail lines is 410 kilometers and it is estimated to cost 201.8 billion yuan (US$28 billion). The construction of the projects will start this year. Besides the intercity rails, Shenzhen will also open seven new sections of the Metro this year, extending the city’s Metro network by 107 kilometers. Shenzhen has 343 kilometers of rail projects, including 76 kilometers of Metro lines, under construction this year. (Han Ximin) |
