Three online graduation exhibitions
    2020-06-18  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

The pandemic may have blocked spatial communication but it did not necessarily impede artistic creation. For three groups of students, it instead sparked their imagination and creativity.

AADTHU

The online graduation exhibition of the Academy of Arts & Design, Tsinghua University (AADTHU) presents more than 1,000 pieces of art by undergraduates and postgraduates.

“History witnesses the birth of new things and new ideas at critical moments as demonstrated in the online graduation exhibition. It allows us to explore unprecedented, unknown possibilities. It allows us to think about the purposes and responsibilities of artists in times of change and transitions,” the exhibition profile reads.

CAFA

“Then and Now,” the Central Academy of Fine Arts’ (CAFA) exhibition for students’ graduation works, features more than 10,000 works by 846 undergraduates, 375 postgraduates and 31 doctorial students. The works are on display in nine virtual exhibition halls and more of their works are also available online under their department categories.

“Confronted with such a sudden disaster, art is almost powerless, but art is ultimately sympathetic and reliable,” Fan Di’an, president of the academy, wrote in a letter for the exhibition.

“Since the launch of the Central Academy of Fine Arts Graduation Season in 2015, CAFA has held its art festival every summer, which turns the campus into an art gallery. It has built a broad platform for the display of works from different disciplines and professions. Although this year’s graduation season cannot be carried out on campus, mobile phone users can observe details of the students’ works closely from anywhere and they can also open layers of links to enter the world of thinking and creation of each student,” he added.

GAFA

The online graduation exhibition of the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts (GAFA) showcases artworks by 1,373 undergraduates and 257 postgraduates. “The online graduation exhibition also recorded student’s courage and wisdom in the face of the pandemic. These difficulties sparked the students’ new understanding of the world and art,” the exhibition profile reads.(SD News)
