WORK on the construction of Shenzhen headquarters of VIVO, a smartphone maker in China, was inaugurated in Xin’an Subdistrict, Bao’an District, yesterday.

The office building, at an investment of 2.8 billion yuan (US$395 million), will be put into use in 2024. The headquarters in Shenzhen will offer smartphone software service, Internet value-added service, smartphone terminal research and development and auxiliary service of smartphones.

The 150-meter-tall VIVO office building will have 32 floors, overlooking Qianhai Bay.

VIVO now has 30,000 employees across the country and 110 million VIVO mobile phones were sold around the globe last year. The revenue in 2019 was 120 billion yuan.

The inauguration of the VIVO project also marked the beginning of 163 recently added building projects involving an investment of 135 billion yuan in Shenzhen.

In 2020, 28.2 billion yuan is budgeted. The newly added projects are set to offset the impact of COVID-19 and provide historic opportunities for the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and construction of the pilot demonstration area of socialism with Chinese characteristics in Shenzhen.

Shenzhen now is honoring its promise to ensure land supply for the projects that were signed into being at the Shenzhen Global Investment Promotion Conference in December last year.

To ensure that the projects settle in Shenzhen, the city has planned to supply 198 hectares of industrial land and so far 83 hectares, 42 percent of the total, have been offered for industrial development to enterprises, according to a report by Shenzhen Special Zone Daily yesterday.

At the conference, a total of 128 major investment projects were signed on-site with a total investment of 560 billion yuan. The city has promised that any quality project, as long as it suits Shenzhen’s industrial orientation and meets the city’s needs for quality development, is welcome to be launched here in Shenzhen.

The conference offered 36 land parcels totaling 30 square kilometers for global investors and corresponding supporting policies.

The land supply for the projects signed at the conference and to be initiated this year has been settled, the report said.

Following an agreement signed by Xiaomi to set up its international headquarters in Houhai on Wednesday, OPPO unveiled its computer-generated images of a new headquarters office in Shenzhen.

The new headquarters of OPPO at Shenzhen Bay is about 200 meters high and budgeted at 7 billion yuan. It will offer 10,000 job opportunities.

At Houhai Headquarters Base, four parcels of quality land have been offered to Shenzhen Fenqile Internet Technologies Co. Ltd., Fantawild Group and ByteDance to construct their new or regional headquarters.

The headquarters of Wumart Holding Group, ACC Technologies, China Gas Holdings, China Resource Snow Breweries Co. Ltd., and Sunac China will soon rise in Shenzhen.

To further support the growth of enterprises and to help them thrive, Shenzhen will offer up to 15 million yuan to help them industrialize their scientific achievements, or offer equity financing up to 30 million yuan.
