Holiday trips

China saw around 78.79 million passenger trips during the three-day Dragon Boat Festival holiday that ended on Saturday, according to the Ministry of Transport.

Passenger trips on trains reached 17.76 million during the holiday, while trips via waterway totaled 1.61 million, data from the estimation showed. Around 2.68 million trips were operated by civil airlines, with the average load factor standing at 69 percent, while 56.73 million road trips were made, according to the Ministry of Transport.

Negative list

Foreign investors will be given more freedom in the service, manufacturing and agricultural sectors based on the newly released negative list for 2020, according to China’s top economic planner.

Jointly issued by the National Development and Reform Commission and the Ministry of Commerce last week, the new negative list for foreign investment will be further shortened and improve the level of openness in the service, manufacturing and agricultural sectors, compared with the list for last year.

COVID vaccine

China’s inactivated COVID-19 vaccine candidate has started its phase-3 clinical trial globally in the United Arab Emirates, according to the vaccine developer China National Biotec Group (CNBG).

The clinical trial was officially initiated after a cooperation agreement was signed last week, during a video conference jointly held in Beijing, Wuhan and Abu Dhabi, the company said, adding that it is the first time that China’s self-developed vaccine has carried out phase-3 clinical research internationally. Since China has few confirmed COVID-19 cases, it could not meet the conditions of the vaccine’s safety and efficacy on a large scale, therefore CNBG sought overseas cooperation.

Quarantine policy

It is not right for some places to carry out a two-week quarantine for all people coming to or leaving Beijing, according to He Qinghua, inspector from the National Health Commission.

He said the Central Government and the Beijing Municipal Government have made clear regulations in four aspects on travelers in and out of Beijing. Beijing has required nucleic acid testing for those who visited the Xinfadi market and its personnel, and people living in medium- and high-risk communities and townships, according to He.(SD-Agencies)
